One of the questions that I often get asked is, "What is the difference between Wix Studio and the Wix Editor?"

In this post, I'll answer this question to help clarify any confusion.

Lets get started!

Two Different Website Editors

If you're new to Wix, you might not know that they have two different editors or website builders. Wix Studio and the Wix Editor.

The Wix Editor, also known as the classic editor, is the platform that most people are familiar with.

While this editor is used by more people, it's not the same as Wix Studio.

Wix Studio is more advanced, has exclusive features, and is the platform built for agencies and enterprises.

Both editors can be great options depending on what you are trying to build. I like both and still use both for my client websites depending on the project size and scope.

What Do The Editors Look Like?

If you're still unsure about which editor you are using or if you want to see the differences between the two, this video will help. In this video, I show you both the editors and point out the main differences.

I also expand on this concept a bit further in another video that's posted below.

While this is not an exhaustive list, hopefully it's painting to clearer picture between the two and when you might use one over the other.

Important Points to Remember

Here are some important points to remember when working with either editor.

  • The two editors are different platforms.

  • Because they are different platforms, you cannot transfer sites between the two editors. If a site is built in the Wix Editor and I want to transfer for it Wix Studio, then I have to rebuild the site from scratch.

  • Wix Studio has advanced capabilities, like importing designs from Figma for example, so it might be the better option if you are more design oriented.

  • Wix Studio has a higher learning curve. So if a simple website is what you need, the Wix Editor might be a better option.

  • Both editors share a lot of crossover when it comes to the site dashboard and Wix Business solutions like Forms, Bookings, Stores, etc. I discuss this more in the video below in the next section.

How To Transition from Wix to Wix Studio

If you're looking to transition from Wix to Wix Studio, then the video below can give you some ideas on how to get started.

I myself made the transition about a year ago and I'm so glad that I learned how to use Wix Studio...even though it took some time to get used to it initially!

Conclusion

As I have said before, I think both editors are great and each one has it's pros and cons.

If you're a Wix fan, then I highly recommend using both because it will help you elevate your skills and create more compelling websites.

Now that you now which editor is which, pick the option that works for you!
